Pueblos Blancos "Loop"

Pueblos blancos (literally "white towns") abound here in southern Spain, and from Rota, we are within a couple hours drive to at least a dozen.  We read about this loop in our Eyewitness Travel Spain book, and there are various maps available online to show you many possibilities.  While a driving loop sounds innocent enough, and actually is a really nice day trip, be warned that it can be a very long day.  We didn't even hit every town on the list (and did a bit of zig-zagging on purpose), and we were at least 9 hours in and out of the car.

It's a fun and scenic outing--amazing overlooks and charming little towns, but bring some snacks and be prepared to settle in for the long haul...  There are too many beautiful towns and not enough time!  My advice, read up on 3 or 4 of the pueblos blancos that you want to visit, mark a route on the map and head out...each has something unique and wonderful to see!
